Quarter Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Quarter ("Quarter," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Quarter mobile application and related services (the "App"). Quarter is designed to be local-first: your plans, check-ins, tags, time logs, settings, and other activity data are stored on your device unless you choose to use a feature that syncs or backs up that data through Apple services.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using Quarter, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Quarter does not collect or transmit your personal productivity activity to our servers. We do not collect:

2. Information Stored On Your Device

Quarter stores App data locally on your device using iOS's standard app storage. This includes:

You can delete all local App data by deleting the App from your device, subject to any iCloud backup or Apple device backup settings you have enabled.

3. Optional iCloud Backup or Sync

Quarter may offer an optional iCloud backup or sync feature in a future release. If you enable it, your Quarter data may be stored in or synced through your Apple iCloud account. iCloud is provided by Apple, and your use of iCloud is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policies.

We do not operate iCloud, and we do not receive the contents of your Quarter activity data from iCloud unless a future feature explicitly says so and asks for your consent.

4. Purchases, Subscriptions, and RevenueCat

Quarter offers paid access through Apple In-App Purchase, including a monthly subscription, an annual subscription, and a lifetime purchase, all gated behind the "Quarter Unlimited" entitlement. Payments are processed by Apple through your Apple ID.

Quarter uses RevenueCat, a third-party service, to validate purchases, manage subscription status, restore purchases, and determine whether paid features should be unlocked. RevenueCat may receive purchase-related information and technical identifiers necessary to provide those services, such as:

We use this information for app functionality, purchase validation, entitlement management, fraud prevention, customer support, and subscription administration. We do not use RevenueCat for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

RevenueCat's processing of information is also governed by RevenueCat's own privacy practices. You can review RevenueCat's privacy policy at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.

5. Apple and App Store Data

Apple may provide us with aggregated sales, subscription, crash, performance, and App Store analytics information through App Store Connect. Depending on your device settings and Apple's policies, Apple may also provide limited diagnostic or analytics information to developers. We use any such information only to understand app performance, maintain the App, and improve reliability.

Apple's handling of your Apple ID, payments, subscriptions, iCloud, analytics, and App Store activity is governed by Apple's privacy policies and terms.

6. Notifications

Quarter requests permission to send local notifications for check-ins, day-start prompts, and day-end "wrap up" prompts. These notifications are scheduled on your device by the App. We do not receive the content of your notifications, when they are delivered, or whether you respond to them.

You can manage notification permissions in iOS Settings.

7. Live Activities

Quarter requests permission to display a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island while a tracking day is active. The Live Activity is rendered locally on your device using only the data already stored in the App (next check-in time, your last logged category, focus minutes, snooze state, day-so-far timeline). No content of the Live Activity is sent to our servers or any third party.

You can disable Live Activities globally in iOS Settings or per app in the Quarter section of Settings.

8. Photos Access

When you choose to share or save a day summary card, Quarter requests permission to add the resulting image to your Photos library. The App accesses Photos solely for that one-shot save and does not read or browse your existing photos.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your Quarter activity data with advertisers or data brokers.

We may share limited information only in these circumstances:

10. Data Retention

Local App data remains on your device until you delete it, reset it, or delete the App. The in-app history is capped at the most recent 14 days of summaries. Data stored in iCloud or Apple device backups is controlled through your Apple account and device settings.

Purchase and entitlement records may be retained by Apple, RevenueCat, and us for as long as needed to provide purchases, restore access, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce agreements.

11. Your Choices

You can:

Because Quarter is local-first and we generally do not receive your activity data, we may not be able to access, export, correct, or delete data that exists only on your device or in your personal iCloud account.

12. Children's Privacy

Quarter is not intended for children under 13, or the minimum age required by law in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

13. International Users

If you use Quarter outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where Apple, RevenueCat, or our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction.

14. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information we handle. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, Apple ID, passcode, backups, and iCloud account.

15. Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App or through the App Store. Your continued use of Quarter after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.

16. Contact

For privacy questions:

Contact the developer through the Quarter contact page or the support channel listed on the App Store product page.
